Permacomputing Workshop: Hardware Hacking & Electronic Components Foraging
Veerle Pennock is a creative electronics maker and founder of Acid Solder Club in Utrecht. In this workshop, Veerle will bring you in on the creative process of hardware hacking and show you how to reuse electronic devices, printed circuit boards, machines and components as new expressive and artistic design tools. We will take apart old keyboards, radios, house appliances, audio/video gear, toys and much more, to see how they work and if we can still put them to use!
Workshop contestants are invited and encouraged to bring their own devices! Together we will:
- dive into the scraps and locate the objects of your interest
- learn what's useful to keep and what can move on to the dump
- dive into soldering and de-soldering
- build our own new electronic Mad Max/cyberpunk-style creations!
This workshop is for super-beginners and nano-farad-noobs, so no prior knowledge is needed in electronics, soldering or components foraging. This workshop will be followed by another one by Acid Solder Club on 24 February, “MIDI controller from Scraps” within the Permacomputing series by CCU! Stay tuned for more info.
