Lunch talk: Collaborating with Non-Human Life for a Regenerative Hof Economy

How can we make the Hof economy not just circular, but truly regenerative by collaborating with non-human life? In this Lunch Talk, Fabian van Sluijs (CCU) and Theun Karelse (Speaker for the Living) share their experience being part of a Zoöp: an organization that recognizes the rights and agency of all living beings in its ecosystem. They will also discuss the steps CCU has taken in recent years to integrate a multi-species perspective into its operations.
Join us to explore how, as a Hof member, you can contribute to a future where humans and nature thrive together.

What is the Zoöp Movement?

The Zoöp movement advocates for organizations that prioritize not only human interests but also the well-being of all living beings in their environment. A Zoöp (a blend of zoe, Greek for "life," and coöp, for "cooperation") is a cooperative where humans and non-human life share decision-making power. It’s a radical new way of organizing, where ecological and social values are central. Imagine land that isn’t just "owned" but also has a "voice," or decision-making processes that consider the needs of trees, animals, fungi, and microbes. The movement challenges us to see economy and ecology not as opposites, but as partners in a healthy, resilient system.
